Mark Turner, c4c-S CEO, contributed to a panel discussion at the DIA Europe meeting in Rotterdam in 25 March 2026 about the concept of “Unmet Medical Need” that is part of the new European Pharmaceutical legislation.
He outlined the contributions that clinicians can make to discussions about unmet medical needs for example by commenting on standards of care and what medicines can do. He emphasized that clinicians include nurses, physiotherapists, psychologists and other professions. Clinicians also develop medicines that will meet unmet needs.

The panel discussed how the legislation will prompt the urgent development of guidelines about how a new medicine could be recognised as addressing unmet medical needs.
Both activities – information provision and drug development – will be enhanced by clear communication to clinicians about the regulatory meaning of unmet medical needs.
Besides the fruitful panel discussions and interesting talks, we have also made new connections through our booth. Cintia Spira and Karin Lubbers have engaged with many potential collaborators and service requestors, and explained the work that conect4children-Stichting does.
